Stoa is expected to remain in the AHL until the Capitals need to fill the wing spot on the roster. Many view this signing as more of a depth signing. The Capitals are simply stocking their farm system for the future. That technique has proven to be worth while as we have found out in the past.
Stoa played in 37 career NHL games for the Colorado Avalanche. He has scored four goals, three assists, and seven points. He has also served 20 minutes in the penalty box.
In college, Stoa was named to the WCHA First All-Star Team and to the NCAA West First All-American Team in 2008-2009.
Stoa has been a solid player in the AHL. He will get playing time in Hershey right away. While he may not be a top goal scorer, he does get assists and isn't afraid to get his nose dirty. If he gets called up to the Capitals NHL roster, it won't be till late in the season.
