Wizards Start Camp

Today, the Washington Wizards begin their four-day mini-camp at the Verizon Center to prepare for the NBA Las Vegas Summer League program. There are a total of 14 players that are attending.

The players attending are as follows (NOTE: current Wizards are in bold):

Bradley Beal: Shooting Gaurd
Jeff Brooks: Forward
Earl Calloway: Gaurd
LaRon Dendy: Center
Steven Gray: Gaurd
Ravern Johnson: Gaurd
Shelvin Mack: Gaurd
Shavlik Randolph: Forward
Tomas Satoransky: Gaurd
Mike Scott: Forward
Garett Siler: Center
Chris Singleton: Forward
Kim Tillie: Center
Jan Vesely: Forward

The point of this mini-camp is prepare these players for the NBA Summer League program in Las Vegas. Many of them haven't played with each other so they can use this opportunity to get used to playing with one-another.

This is also just another way that the Wizards can begin to groom their young and upcoming players. They can also see if their are any players that might have slipped through the cracks and could end up becoming superstars in the league.

As you may have noticed, Tomas Satoransky is attending the mini-camp. For right now, it is still unknown as to whether or not he will be attending the Las Vegas Summer League program. He isn't expected to play for the Wizards for another couple of years, so he would like to stay with his Euro League team and prepare for their season.

For Beal, Mack, Singleton, and Vesely, they are all either entering their first season or second season in the NBA. This is just another way to get these four players reps and to coach them a little more before they head to Las Vegas.

All of the practices are being held at the Verizon Center all the way through this Thursday. One practice each day will be open to the media.
